At last year’s GDC, I saw Bennet Foddy present his game, Speed Chess, at the Experimental Gameplay Workshop. Speed Chess is a fast- paced, 16-player version of the classic board game. During his presentation, Mr. Foddy stated that any good Game Designer should make Chess variant and a Pong variant within their lifetime. I’m not very good at Chess, so I made a solitary version of the Atari classic, “Pong” to halfway fulfill Mr. Foddy’s demands and allow me to play “Pong” when I’m alone. That last part makes me sound sad.
designed and programmed the game on my own using Unity, and created a silly trailer for the game that was featured on Touch Arcade. You can play the game on the iPhone and iPad for free! The killer artwork was done by the talented Jeff Campbell, and the sound effects were created with BFXR, a very cool SFX creator for PC / OS X.
